How to Use the SAFE-T Approach
to Prevent Workplace Violence

Employers have an obligation to provide a safe working environment for their employees. Having a comprehensive workplace violence prevention program is the most cost-effective way to consistently and systematically fulfill this obligation.

However, it has been our personal experience to find large companies (over 100 employees) with no formal workplace violence prevention program. This not only puts employees at risk, but also jeopardizes the future of the company. The absence of a comprehensive workplace violence prevention program maximizes the company's vulnerability to litigation should an incident occur.

More and more, employees are exposed to potentially explosive confrontations with angry co-workers, clients, and customers who are verbally, and at times physically, threatening.

The incidence of workplace violence is increasing as workers strive to be more productive in less time with fewer resources and heavier workloads.

Burnout among employees in some professions is increasing at an alarming rate.

The SAFE-T Approach can make a significant difference in the productivity and profitability of your organization.

Topics coverered in the SAFE-T Seminar:

- Workplace Violence: what it is, what it isn't!

- Effect of workplace violence on productivity and profit

- Essential components of a comprehensive workplace violence program

- How to implement an effective Safe Atmosphere For Employees Team

- How to identify and assess the potentially violent employee / client / customer using the HIT Model and how to intervene effectively at each level

- How to effectively utilize critical incident stress management strategies to lessen the emotional aftermath and residual effects of a workplace violence incident

- Evaluate your current workplace violence prevention program to determine its strengths and uncover any gaps

- Develop a realistic, workable plan for instituting the SAFE-T Approach or a plan to fill in the gaps in your existing violence prevention program. (2-day seminar only)

This is an interactive seminar. To gain maximum benefit from this seminar, each participant is asked to bring a copy of his or her company's current Workplace Violence Policies and Procedures Manual.

This topic can be adapted for:
- 1-day seminar
- 2-day comprehensive training with policy assessment and plan development
- Optional follow-up consultation available
